The Practice lead for Safeguarding is Dr Anna Frain. All of our staff receive training and updates in issues of safeguarding in relation to childen and vulnerable adults at an Annual Safeguarding Afternoon. We have run four of these staff training events since 2013. This training takes place both within the Practice and with external agencies such as Derbyshire Safeguarding Board.

The Practice works where necessary with local health visitors, social services and hospital services to ensure the safety of patients at risk.
Consent for Children’s treatment (under the age of 16)
Where it is considered appropriate by parents, or where an adolescent does not wish the presence of an adult, a child may give the legal consent to their own treatment.
Under these circumstances, the clinician must be satisfied that the child has a full understanding of the advice and treatment being provided. The General Medical Council has produced guidance to help us make these decisions.
Members of staff are trained also in relation to issues relating to adult safeguarding and vulnerable patients. Clinicians are provided with desktop guidance and online resources on how to assist and refer patients in this situation.
